This Donegal traditional thatched cottage although restored to its former glory as an Irish thatched cottage, retaining every detail of the original design, modern comforts have been discreetly integrated to make your stay more enjoyable.
Set back from the roadway entry is through a hedged laneway with rambling roses which lead to this authentic Irish cottage with its thatched roof and half door.
The original "Irish kitchen” which is the heart of an Irish cottage, features a flagged floor and open fire. It is traditionally furnished with an antique dresser of century old delph earthenware, butter churn, spinning wheel, and old-style long table. The glow from the turf fire adds to the warmth of the welcome you will find at our Donegal holiday cottage.
The cottage contains two bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of 4 people.The main bedroom upstairs has a charm and beauty all of its own with a coved ceiling and arched doorway, all in natural pine. Two ancient trunks used as storage chests in bygone days add to the quaintness of the room.
The other bedroom is situated above the fireplace, with small panelled windows (to the outside world) and (unique tiny panel internal windows) allowing the glow from the peat fire below to enter the room.
This Donegal holiday cottage also has its own charming and tree sheltered gardens, containing garden furniture.Our traditional thatched Irish cottage is close to the tiny hamlet of Portsalon and its 18 hole golf links and within walking distance of the stunning blue flag Ballymastoker beach
