This traditional Irish cottage has been in Margaret's family since 1920 and recently restored carefully retaining the original features whilst modern comforts have been subtly integrated. The serene rural location is a perfect country getaway. The traditional Irish kitchen, with flagstone floor and open hearth, will transport visitors to past times of Ireland.

The Whins cottage is set on a hillside sheltered by yellow whin bushes and has panoramic views of the surrounding farmland and hills with cows and sheep grazing.

Not only the cottage but the surrounding Fanad area will give you a real feel for the traditional Irish culture as it is set in the heart of one of the few remaining Irish speaking ‘Gaeltacht’ areas. Traditional Irish hospitality is inherent in the Fanad area.

This Donegal self catering holiday home is well placed too for some spectacular blue flag beaches noted for their glorious golden sands.

There is also a small library with books by Irish authors of Irish interest for you to enjoy while relaxing by the turf fire.

Margaret will be at the cottage with the fire burning and have everything nice for your arrival.

The cottage has two double bedrooms and comfortably sleeps three but can accommodate four.

Thoughtful extras such as welcome gift of home baking, homemade jam and selection of fruit and vegetables from our cottage organic garden. Margaret will be available throughout your stay to make your holiday pleasant and memorable.

Cashelmore self catering cottage sleeps 2/3

Although this comfortable self catering holiday cottage was built in the 1970’s the unobstructed panoramic view has remained totally unaffected by the passage of time. Designed to sleep 3 comfortably but can accommodate 4 persons.

This Fanad self catering cottage is set on an elevated site amidst uncultivated land and rocks with hedgerows sheltered by an abundance of yellow whins (gorse) and the calming scene of cows and sheep grazing in the neighbouring Fanad fields.

These Donegal self-catering Irish cottages are opposite Cashelmore Mountain in the heart of the Fanad Donegal Gaeltacht. From the top of Cashelmore the views of the surrounding Fanad area are spectacular including several lakes and Mulroy Bay.
